Home » Request a remark
If you are not happy with your IELTS results, find out how you can request a remark, also known as an Enquiry on Results.
We understand the frustration of not achieving your dream IELTS band score for work, study or migration.
Good news is you can request a review (also called an IELTS remark, or IELTS Enquiry on Result) within 6 weeks of sitting your test by contacting the IDP test centre where you took your IELTS test.
If you apply for an Enquiry on Results, your test will be remarked by a senior IELTS examiner who will not know your original band scores for each part of the test.
You can request a remark for the whole IELTS test or for one or more parts (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking). Your reviewed results will be available within 3 to 21 days of applying for a remark.
There is a cost for requesting a remark. If your result is changed to a higher band score, the fee you paid will be refunded and a new TRF will be issued.
Now, you can also download an IELTS e-TRF once your scores are released. IELTS e-TRFs are now available for test takers who sit the IELTS on Computer test at eligible test centres. The e-TRF will be available in your IELTS profile as a downloadable PDF file. It’s the same IELTS TRF you know, delivered digitally.
IELTS Candidate satisfaction is valuable to us. We look forward to hearing from you.
When you request a remark, your IELTS test will be remarked by an experienced senior IELTS examiner who will see prior scores when re-marking - Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking. Your test centre is then notified of the remarked result and if the mark has changed, you will receive a new Test Report Form (TRF).
The request for a remark must be made within 6 weeks of the date shown on your Test Report Form (TRF). You can request a remark on the whole test or any part of it (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking).
You must pay an enquiry fee, which is fully refunded if your band score changes. Contact your local test centre for more information about fees.
Your result will normally be available in 2 to 21 days, depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for remark. If you have not received a response after 28 days, please contact your test centre.
If you feel confident that you have done better than your score shows, applying for an EOR is one option for you. This is marked by a senior examiner who marks it independently from your first examiner. After this second assessment, your score either stays the same or is higher, depending on the senior examiner’s rating.
EOR requests and all IELTS test day matters are handled by your test centre. IDP responds to the EOR requests by using a team of senior examiners.
