Reschedule or cancel your IELTS test

Find out what you need to do if you plan to reschedule or cancel your application for IELTS test.

Here is what you need to know if you wish to reschedule or cancel your IELTS test.

  • If you reschedule or cancel your application more than five (5) weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration charge.

  • If you reschedule or cancel within five (5) weeks of the test date, you will be charged the full fee unless you have a serious medical reason.

  • If you provide a medical certificate within five (5) days of the test date, you will receive a refund minus the local administrative cost.

IELTS One Skill Retake: Cancellations, refunds, and transfers

Here is what you need to know if you wish to reschedule or cancel your IELTS One Skill Retake test.

  • As a test taker, you are entitled to a full refund of the OSR test fee if you cancel the test 72 hours or more before the OSR test session.

  • No refund is provided if a test taker fails to show for an OSR or if the OSR result is not recognized by any given institution, organization, or government body. It is the test taker’s responsibility to check whether relevant bodies recognize OSRs.

  • If a test taker wishes to cancel the test within 48 hours, please contact your IELTS test centre.

  • If an OSR test-taker is absent for their OSR they may be able to rebook another OSR within the 60-day eligibility period from the original test.

  • If an OSR test-taker is absent due to special circumstances (sickness, accident, bereavement etc.) they may be able to transfer their registration from the registration system or provided a refund.

  • No administrative fees will be charged for cancellations, refunds or transfers.

Contact the test centre where you booked your test if you need to postpone or cancel.
If you cancel or postpone your test more than 5 weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration fee.
If you cancel or postpone your test within 5 weeks of your test date, you will be charged the full fee unless you have a serious medical reason for needing to cancel or postpone it.
If you provide a medical certificate within 5 days of your test date, you will receive a refund minus the local administrative cost.

If you experience difficulty on a test day, please inform the test centre immediately. The test centre may offer you a test on the next available test date.

If you can't attend your IELTS test due to a serious medical condition, you can provide a medical certificate within 5 days of your test date to receive a refund minus the local administrative cost. If you are absent on the test day with no prior notice, you will lose your full test fee.
